My petty manager thinks she can cancel my vacation because she couldn't take her vacation day M 1 30 f working in the small business. We have manager who has been working here all her life. She has her own favorites in the office. These favorites are allowed to break every rule and do whatever they want without being questioned. Those who are not her favorites are always under scrutiny and loaded with work responsibilities that are to be done by her favorites.

Since I started the job, for whatever reason she made me target for her Hate. I am always respectful to her however she likes to make my life over everything. Initially I was given work responsibilities equivalent of 4 person's work. Now fast forward to few years, I am still doing work of 2 persons job. She always throws tantrum like kid everytime I get off. She goes to extra miles to create issues on days I am off and blames everything on me. She even made issues when I was hospitalized and ask

I am going on long vacation. I had told our boss about my plans and had it pre approved even before making any bookings for stay or ticket. I put it on calender 3 months in advance with note that it's been pre-approved. My manager was supposed to take extra off so she can have I extra long weekend however our owner said she will be off that week as well. Our owner didn't ask the manager to cancel her off or whatever but our manager took it upon herself and canceled it. After doing that she turne

I looked at her and I am like .. I went to her desk which is right outside where our boss is and told her that she may cancel it however then she has to refund the money I spent on booking my flights and stays and activities which are non refundable nd amount totals to $3000 plus whatever my boyfriend spent too and it will be something she needs to do something out of her pocket since our boss is not asking me to cancel, but you are!

Our boss looked at us and just shrugged knowing that she has been playing games with me since beginning and not wanted to get involve. Guess what! I am still going on the vacation. I am also going through everyday torture of her petty comments about my vacation. But I am gonna count it as Victory as small it is!

night-otter 13h ago At the end of your last day before vacation, drop a resignation letter on her desk. 2 weeks notice. I'll be back in 3 weeks to sign papers, clear your desk, and pick-up my last check. 66 Reply

Glint Bladesong ⚫ 14h ago Don't forget to send postcards to her during your trip. You know the "having a lovely time, glad you aren't here" kind of things. (may be not worded quite like that) Send some to the boss too, so you can't be accused of playing favourites. (People these days do know what postcards are right?) 206 Reply

© mcflame13 12h ago Start getting evidence of your manager playing favorites and her favorites are not doing anything and getting away with everything. Then after awhile. Show that evidence to the owner of the small business and hopefully they will fire the manager and her lazy favorites. 13 Reply

cacnichols 12h ago . Sounds like you need to start documenting her treatment of you. Keep a small notepad and pen with you and update during breaks, at lunch, and after work. If the company is too small to have an HR and your boss is unwilling to deal with the situation, if there is a Labor Board where you live, talk to them. In the meantime, keep your resume updated, apply for jobs that fit, and practice interviewing. + 8 Reply

Ok-Tadpole-9859. 3h ago Your manager and your boss are both dickheads. If your boss knows your manager has been playing these games with you since the beginning, your boss needed to step in and put a halt to it right at the start. Your manager is allowed free rein to be an because your boss is letting her have free rein to be an 45 1 Reply ...

julzferacia 12h ago this always annoys me as if the actual boss stepped up and did her job right then management wouldn't be able to act like that. These types of bosses never understand why they have high staff turnover maybe because you put people in charge and don't have the to step in to make sure the show is being ran right. 43 1 Reply

DangerousDave303 40m ago Every time she makes a snarky remark about your vacation, cheerfully respond with something like "Yes, I'm so excited about it. We're going to place X and have planned activities Y and Z. We plan to spend a lot of time relaxing and ignoring our cell phones.". + 3 ⇓ Reply

Affectionate Claim673 • 2h ago I'm pretty dang devious. I'd do my evidence gathering, prepare a complete and bulletproof case. Then, go to the boss, tell him THAT you have proof (but don't show him what it is) and tell him you want her job! He'll probably be grateful for a way to get her out; if he balks, then your next step is out the door to the labor board. It's likely he sees exactly who he's dealing with but doesn't know how to get her out. He might be grateful and you will solve his own di

Your boss shouldn't allow this and you need to put your foot down and let everyone know you should not have to go through such ridiculous behavior to provide for yourself! Good luck in the future! 15 ☐ Reply

Clean_Factor9673 • 10h ago I'd look for a new job. The boss pre- approved your vacation and needs to tell petty manager thst you're going and she's not to act retaliatory towards you. I had a petty manager at a small company long ago. Years after I was gone she was still badmouthing me. Eventually age got fired but I was long gone. 813 Reply

Expert-Angle-8214 .7h ago love how you put it to her lol. now i ask why would you let this person treat you like this for so long, if i was you i would have looked for another job long ago, also if the owner isnt doing any thing about her and knows how she is treating you they are opening them selves up for a potential lawsuit. if that was me i would have quit or got another job straight away i wouldnt put up with that 15 Reply

New-Conversation-88 4h ago • I booked a week off once in advance, approved all good. Then my manager calls me in and tells me my juniors boyfriend had called and wanted 2 weeks for off for her as he was taking her to Paris to propose. It was a secret. (We are in w.australia so not a cheap trip.) Could I change my time off manager asked. For a reason like that, yes. Plus junior was the lovliest, sweetest girl. 13 Reply ...
